Development Worker

Barbara joined the paid team at Dunfermline Advocacy in 2001 as a Senior Development Worker when DA launched its Young People’s Project and since then has gained a wealth of experience working across most of our projects – Core, Crisis and also covered our Co-ordinator’s maternity leave!

Barbara currently leads our work in the community, as a Development Worker within our Core Project. Barbara’s first taster of DA was as a Citizen Advocate. She was matched with her partner by our Chief Executive, Rachel in 2000 and their friendship is still going strong! Before working at DA, Barbara worked for Mencap Homes Foundation in the North East of England in the 1980’s, establishing new homes in the community for some of the first people moving out of long stay hospital. Her wide experience has cemented her belief in the ability of everyone to be able to live and be part of their community.
